The Freeman Foundation Presents
The Lights Out Dinner in the Dark
Corbin KY, January 31, 2017: The Freeman Foundation presents The Lights Out Dinner in the Dark. The dinner will be held on March 21, 2017 at 6:30 PM, at the Corbin Center in Corbin, KY. Participants will eat dinner blindfolded to raise awareness of the needs and potential of people with disabilities. Corporal Matthew Bradford, a purple heart recipient, will be the guest speaker.
Bradford joined the Marine Corps straight out of high school in September 2005. He was stationed with the 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines out of Kaneohoe Bay, Hawaii, and in September 2006 deployed to Haditha, Iraq. On January 18, 2007 he stepped on an IED. Immediately Shrapnel blinded him, and his left leg was blown off. Later at the hospital his right leg was amputated. He also has limited use of his right hand due to breaking of the bones during the blast.
After rehabilitation Bradford reenlisted in the Marine Corps in April 2010 as the first blind double amputee. He was stationed at Wounded Warrior Battalion East until he retired in July 2012. Currently he attends the University of Kentucky, majoring in Media Arts and History.
Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children 12 and under. You can register online here, or tickets can be purchased from Mary Freeman at Central Baptist Church in Corbin, KY.
All proceeds from the dinner assist The Freeman Foundation in continuing its mission: to promote awareness of the needs and potential of individuals with disabilities. For more information about The Freeman Foundation visit www.travisfreeman.org.
